The Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) conducted an inspection campaign on jewellery shops in various parts of Muscat.

Around 169 violations were recorded against shops selling gold and silver in Muscat since the beginning of the campaign.

Last week, the Consumer Protection Authority in the Al Dhahirah Governorate seized a jewelry shop that tampered with prices.

As per the details, CPA received a report from a consumer about the manipulation of prices by one of the gold shops in the governorate, while calculating the total price of a piece of gold, which includes workmanship and the price of a gram in addition to the value-added tax.

The judicial authorities went to the shop and found that the information was accurate.

Necessary measures were taken against the shop, including its seizure.
