Rains replenish Nizwa recharge dams

NIZWA: Eng Nasser bin Abdullah al Salmi, Director of Water Resources at the Directorate-General of Agriculture and Water Resources, Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah, said that recharge dams falling in the course of three wadis in the Wilayat of Nizwa were fully replenished during recent heavy rains.


The Wilayat of Nizwa has three main dams, which are the Wadi Al Mu’aydin Dam, Tanouf Dam and Wadi Al Masla Dam, said Al Salmi.


He explained that the Wadi Al Mu’aydin Dam collected 2.5 million cubic metres of water (exceeding its full-mark by 20 cm). Wadi Tanouf Dam was replenished with 680,000 cubic metres (rising 80 cm above full-mark), while Wadi Al Masla surged by 2 metres above full-mark. -- ONA
