

SHARJAH: The children of the Sultanate of Oman participating in the second session of the Arab Parliament for the Child, hosted by the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, achieved an honours degree in the Arab Parliament Diploma for Children for Parliamentary Work Skills, an advanced level, with the participation of 77 trainees representing 17 Arab country.
The programme aims to teach the values and principles of parliamentary work in children and prepare them to be future parliamentarians.
The participants in this programme expressed their happiness with this excellence and graduation, and for obtaining the degree of excellence with honours.
Elias bin Awad al Maani said: “We finished the diploma programmes after six months, during which we learned many parliamentary skills, and I offer my thanks to the Arab Parliament and the University of Sharjah.”
Kaddass bint Abdullah al Riyamiya, Member of Parliament and Vice-Chairman of the Committee on the Rights of the Child in Parliament, said: “After six months of effort, we finished and acquired leadership and problem-solving skills, and other parliamentary skills and tools at the hands of a specialised professor, and we passed the programme in all its stages.”
Shahd bint Muhanna al Rabakhiya spoke about this participation, saying: Six months after we entered the Parliamentary Skills Diploma Programme, we gained many parliamentary experiences and skills that will undoubtedly help us in the future for more parliamentary culture and meet our ambitions in this renewed aspect.
Abdulaziz bin Saud al Busaidy said: “I am proud to participate with my colleagues from the children of the Sultanate of Oman in the fourth session of the Arab Parliament for Children at the University of Sharjah, and we obtained an honours degree with honours in the Diploma in Parliamentary Skills and speaking in parliamentary sessions.
It is worth mentioning that the Arab Parliament’s diploma programme for the child for parliamentary work skills at the advanced level and the professional diploma in developing the skills of supervisory and leadership work teams for members of the Arab Parliament for the child was held between February 24 to July 15 with 110 training hours for each programme. It included introductions to the League of Arab States and Arab parliamentary systems, skills in managing parliamentary committees, managing discussions, teams and evaluating programme participants through a graduation project. — ONA
