Muscat: Nadhira al Harthy has scaled the top of K2, which at 8,611-metre above sea level, the second-highest mountain peak on Earth after Everest.
“I have scaled the second highest peak in the world in Pakistan, the toughest and the most dangerous. Nothing is impossible with a real will,” Nadhira said in a statement.
Nadhira al Harthy has become the first Omani woman to climb Mount Everest, according to sources. In her last tweet on May 16, she said, “We leave the main camp. 5,300-metre for the second camp directly 6,400-metre as the final stage of climbing to the summit and from it to the third and fourth camp will be in about seven days. If the weather conditions are as expected, May 22 will be the night of arrival at the summit of Everest.”
