BUSINESS REPORTER

Majan Electricity Company announced the strengthening of its efforts in providing prepaid meters to its customers starting from July 2022. Majan Electrcity Company recently witnessed high demand from applicants for prepaid electricity meters, with customers who already had them installed offering positive feedback on their experience.

Sultan al Wahaibi, Manager of the Prepaid Smart Meters Department, at Majan Electricity Company, confirmed the company’s readiness in providing its customers with prepaid meters.

Prepaid meters are an ideal solution for customers of all categories (residential, commercial, agricultural, fisheries and tourism) to manage and control their consumption by paying for it in advance to ensure that it does not exceed their budget.

This helps avoid the accumulation of electricity bills and a sudden increase in consumption.

In order to obtain a prepaid electricity meter, new customers need to apply for a connection through the Majan website majanco.co.om or through one of its customer service centres.

Existing customers would need to submit a request to replace a postpaid electricity meter with a prepaid one, ensuring that all previous dues are paid.

A specialist from Majan Electricity Company will then register the request, and the customer will receive a visit from a technician to ensure that there are appropriate technical connections for the installation of the prepaid meter. Once the application is complete, one of the contracting companies will start the installation process.

Majan Electricity Company, a Nama Group company, is licensed to distribute electricity in North Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah and Al Buraimi governorates.

The company launched the prepaid meter installation service in October 2019 at a lower scale, with the aim of identifying customer demand before providing it on a larger scale, which started this month.
