Muscat: The Oman Flourmills Company (OFMC)—the first food manufacturing industry in the Sultanate of Oman—said in a disclosure issued on Tuesday that it has received a letter from the government for the subsidy of wheat.

The government subsidy for wheat will come into force from May 1, 2022.

The company said the subsidy comes as part of the government’s keenness to stabilize the prices of flour in the local market, in the wake of the sharp increase of wheat prices globally.

Further details pertaining to the government subsidy will be disclosed later on along with the financial statements, the OFMC announced.

Meanwhile, wheat farmers’ in the Sultanate of Oman have already been receiving the government subsidy; starting from the process of cultivation until marketing.
