Oman, Yemen discuss bilateral cooperation

Muscat: An official session of talks between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Yemen in the fields of transport, communications and information technology was convened in the governorate of Dhofar.


The Omani side was chaired by Eng Said Hamoud al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, while the Yemeni side was chaired by Dr. Najeeb Mansour al-Auj, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.


During the official session, the two parties discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transportation, communications and information technology, ways to enhance them and means to encourage joint investment, trade, and technical and logistic partnerships between the two countries.


In addition, the two sides discussed establishing joint projects, and reviewed challenges, and possible solutions regarding strengthening cooperation between the two countries.


Al-Maawali said that the session covered various spheres, including land, sea and air transport, transit trade, and investment in free zones.


On the other hand, the Yemeni stressed the importance of joint meetings that come as part of reviving the agreements inked between the two sides over the past years, noting that the session discussed activating and revitalizing the fields of investment and inter-trade, and facilitating bank procedures for Yemeni investors.


“There are many projects that are expected to be launched soon, including the reconnection of cables along the border between the Wilayat of Al Mazyouna and the Yemeni Shahan area”, al Auj commented.
