Oman's Real Madrid Academy unveils programmes, international tournaments

Muscat: Oman’s Real Madrid Football Academy released their technical programme and details of internal and external camps beside the academy’s future plans in a press meet that took place at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday.


The press conference was held in attendance of Asila bint Salim al Samsamiyah, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Investment Promotion in presence of representatives of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Oman Football Association (OFA).


A visual presentation was presented by Salim al Rushaidi, CEO of Oman’s Real Madrid Football Academy. The presentation covered different parts including a brief about the academy. Real Madrid Academy, which was established in 1997, have more than 400 academies distributed into 82 countries with more than 60 thousand beneficiaries. The training programme in the academy will be divided into two stages. The first phase will be dedicated for development programme and will occur two days weekly and assist shaping the players to take part in different tournaments and championships. While the other type is talent and performance development programme and this will happen every three days weekly. It is specialised for player’s technical improvement.



Age Group


The Academy will target players from age group of 5 until 17 years and Al Amal club was selected as the venue of training sessions.


The domestic preparatory camps for the academy’s players will be held in Sur, Suhar and Salalah during the forthcoming months.


Also, the management of Oman’s Real Madrid Football Academy decided to organise an international football tournament during winter season in Wilayat of Bidiya. The aim of the international tournament is to enhance sports skills of the players, raise the competitiveness knowledge and experience among the international academies.


The academy will support to raise the technical skills of the players under direct supervision of professional coaching staff. A digitalised tools and applications will be used to do proper analysis for player development with providing the reports to the parents.


Abroad programme.


The Academy set a plan of sending the potential players to Spain for a professional abroad experience programme.


During this external trip, Oman’s academy players will have the chance to play against Spain’s Real Madrid Academy players and get coached under supervision of the top coaching staff.


Carlos Albert from Real Madrid club showed a presentation where he highlighted the Academy’s vision for solidarity in social, promoting the sporting values and encouraging football education to children and young people. He mentioned that Oman’s strategic location enabled them as one of the best environment for investment in sporting field.


The Academy will begin their official training programme in August and the registration will be through Academy’s website (www.rmfoman. Om) for different age groups.


Khamis al Ajmi, chairman of board of directors for Oman’s Real Madrid Academy delivered a speech during the press conference. He said: “ We are very pleased to begin this partnership with Real Madrid club which is ranked as one of the top leading clubs in the world. Launching the Academy in Oman will open new horizons for promoting our country at different levels and enhance the investment opportunities beside attracting club’s veteran stars to visit Oman. Thanks to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for their hard work towards launching the Academy in Oman. “ Invest in Oman” platform assisted this project until it came into reality. It is a valuable investment product and tool towards better promotion of Oman at international level,” he ended.
