NIZWA: As part of the Al Dakhiliyah International Film Festival, a workshop on short film directing was held on Thursday in Nizwa.

The workshop was presented by Emirati director Nawaf al Janahi, in the presence of a group of cinema-enthusiasts, including directors, photographers, and some festival guests. The workshop opened with a speech by Mohammed bin Suleiman al Kindi, director of the festival, in which he referred to the importance of cinematography as a major component of film production.

He pointed out that Al Dakhiliyah International Film Festival aims to achieve many benefits for those interested in the film industry in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate and Oman. He pointed out that the workshop will discuss several topics chosen to suit the needs of those interested in this field.

Al Janahi began the workshop with a review of the interests and activities of the participants and their relationship to film directing in general. He made it clear that the output should stem from the person's love for the work.

The session focused specifically on the importance of understanding the director's relationship with screenwriter, producer, director of photography, editor and actor.

Al Janahi reviewed the importance of the role played by the screenwriter. He also pointed out the importance of the message that the film sends to the audience, as it sometimes requires modification, deletion and addition.

He stressed that the success of any cinematic work requires the integration of roles. He said that the most prevalent fallacies are that the success or failure of the work is attributed to the director, and this is a fallacy that the public must be aware of, because the success of the work comes through the success of each of its components. The work cannot be distinguished without dialogue and a distinct scenario, as well as a producer interested in the details of the work and actors who perform their roles according to what is required of them.

The workshop witnessed discussions among the participants on directing and other facets of film-making.
