Al Hajar clouds activate rains in Al Dhahirah

Cloud activity over Al Hajar Mountains on Monday afternoon brought scattered rain in parts of Al Dhahirah Governorate. In play also is downward winds accompanying thunderstorms and rain over Al Hajar Mountains and neighbouring areas.


Scattered rain is also forecast over the mountains and coasts of Dhofar Governorate. There has also been a spread of low clouds and fog on parts of the coast of the Sea of Oman and on parts of the governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Wusta and Dhofar.


Along the coastal areas of the Oman Sea, winds are expected to be southeasterly light to moderate during the day, and it will be southeasterly light during the night. Over most of the governorates it will be south to southeasterly light to moderate and over Arabian Sea coasts winds will be southwesterly moderate and occasionally fresh.


Moderate to rough is what sea conditions are expected along the coastal areas of the Arabian Sea with maximum wave height of 3.0 metres and slight to moderate along the rest of the coasts with maximum wave height of 1.5 metres.


According to the Met officials, horizontal visibility may reduce during situations such as fog, dust rising and rainfall.


On Wednesday, partly cloudy skies are expected with isolated rain along the coastal areas of Dhofar Governorate and adjoining mountains. Mainly clear skies are expected over the rest of the governorates with chances of cloud development with isolated rains and occasionally thundershowers over Al Hajar Mountains towards afternoon. Chance of late night to early morning low-level clouds or fog patches are forecast over Oman Sea coasts, South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta governorates.
