

Muscat: President Samia Suluhu Hassan of the United Republic of Tanzania met here on Monday with some businessmen from both countries on the sidelines of the Oman-Tanzania Business Forum.
The forum, organized by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), was held at Al Bustan Palace Hotel today. It explored means of enhancing economic and investment cooperation, as well as boosting trade exchange.
In her statement to the forum, President Samia expressed her thanks to the government of Oman for supporting Tanzania throughout the last decades. The Tanzanian President reaffirmed the keenness of the two countries in enhancing economic relations based on the historic and deep-rooted relations between Oman and Tanzania.
The President of Tanzania added that the social connections contributed to bolstering relations between the two countries, describing Oman as a “distinguished” country.
On his turn, Qais Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion welcomed the Tanzanian President. He said that the forum is an opportunity to boost the economic relations between Oman and Tanzania.
Al Yousef added that he hopes the Tanzanian side would benefit from investment opportunities in Oman, particularly in the fields of industry, agriculture, fisheries, mining, tourism and renewable energy.
In his turn, Eng Ridha Juma al Saleh, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) said that the competitive business milieu stimulates growth and economic diversification. He added that the Sultanate of Oman offers many investment incentives, namely legal transparency in the business environment and full ownership of investments.
Visual presentations were given during the forum highlighting the investment milieu, incentives and procedures pertaining to businesses and investments in the two countries.
