

Muscat: The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Strategic Planning and Development, Educational Needs Planning Department, in cooperation with the Directorate-General of Administrative Affairs, Training and Rehabilitation Department, implemented training programme to develop skills of preparing strategic and operational plans.
The training programme kicked off on Sunday and continues for five days with the participation of 25 planning specialists from the Directorate-General of Strategic Planning and Development, and the various Educational Directorates in the governorates. The training programme takes place at the Carnelian Muscat Hotel Athaiba, Bausher.
The programme is presented by Dr Muhanna Mohammad Ibrahim, Professor of Educational Planning and Economics of Education at the College of Education in Egypt. The training touches upon several topics including basic concepts in the educational and strategic planning and its development, and determining the responsibility for preparing the strategic plan, its establishment and the factors affecting its formulation, preparation of strategic plans and defining steps, characteristics of strategic planning, its benefits, levels and obstacles, databases, and information. The training programme also presents models for strategic and operational planning and evaluation mechanisms.
The programme aims to develop work priorities by training new employees in the planning departments on how to prepare plans, identify their stages, how to build the operational plan, and follow them up so that they have a clear picture of everything related to planning. It also aims to introduce the trainees to the concept of planning skill and its importance, strategic planning, its elements, various dimensions and stages, the course of preparing strategic plans.
It also seeks to help trainees build a plan with a strategic vision, defining its mission and values according to the work environment. It also aims to enable trainees to conduct an analysis of the current situation experienced by their educational organisations to identify weaknesses, strengths, opportunities, and threats, and to be able to apply these skills and knowledge in operational plans in their work environment.
