A seminar on cyber resilience and data risk management was opened by Davis Kallukaran, Managing Partner of Crowe Oman at the Park Inn Muscat on May 31.

Welcoming the attendees, Kallukaran said, “Online criminal forums have existed for many years, but today these networks are thriving in part because of the unique circumstances brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. They look more like a corporate network now. This is a real threat.” Vivek Sripuram of Happiest Minds initiated the first session on cyber resilience and the role of vulnerability management. He said: “Network vulnerabilities are unfortunate and inevitable. Technological advances and software development result in a continuous cycle of new vulnerabilities and weaknesses in cyber infrastructures. This, however, doesn't call for panic. Instead, organisations must manage their vulnerabilities as effectively as possible and boost their cyber resilience in order to avoid potential attacks.” Priya Kanduri, the lead faculty for the session on Digital Risk Management, said: “In an era of uncertainty and advanced cybersecurity threat environment, digital risk management has become an essential part of business management. Organisations need to build a robust risk protection framework that ensures sustainability and drives more business value for the organisation.” The seminar was attended by IT departmental heads of major corporates and government institutions. Also speaking on the occasion were: Jose Chacko, Partner Forensic and Technology, Afrah al Ghafri and Muzeebur Rehman, Cybersecurity consultant at Crowe.
