At the conclusion of COMEX 2022, held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, Omani ICT expert Tariq bin Hilal al Barwani was presented with the prestigious “Youth ICT Influencer of the year” award by Dr Ali al Shidhani, Under-Secretary for Communications and Information Technology at Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
“Tariq has been instrumental to be a role model for the youth to adapt and prospect future technologies for two decades since he was a young boy. The positive impact of Tariq's work has created many Omanis to pursue ICT as a career, an entrepreneurial path as well as do business in the field of ICT. Tariq is an outstanding leader who continuous to serve the community and the people in the country,” said Sadiq Khan, Group COO of OITE and Arab Research Bureau.
During the three-day technology event, Tariq ran an innovative technology clinic where he advised students to pursue the right ICT education for job opportunities, counselled young entrepreneurs on their business ideas, plans and operations, and offered guidance to employees on courses to take in order keep up with the advancements and requirements of future technologies.
“It is an honour to receive this award from the biggest technology event in the Sultanate of Oman. I will continue supporting and empowering the youth and the society as a whole with resources I have for the betterment of Oman and its future,” said Tariq.
