MUSCAT: The 16th annual symposium on Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) began on Thursday. The event is organised by the Ministry of Health, represented by the Directorate-General of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control.
The opening event was held under the auspices of Dr Fatima bint Mohammed al Ajmi, the Ministry of Health’s Under-Secretary for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs.
Dr Mohammed bin Hamdan al Rubai’e, Director-General of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control, pointed out in his welcome speech that the directorate has been conducting this event annually in a regular basis to develop knowledge of private sector pharmacists. He added that the symposium aims at keeping pace with scientific updates and the latest pharmaceutical innovation and information; thus contributing to providing a distinct community pharmaceutical care.
Meanwhile, a number of outstanding pharmaceutical establishments were honoured, in addition to distinguished pharmacists and assistant pharmacists, distinguished government and private health institutions in adverse drug reactions (ADR) reporting, and keynote speakers. - ONA
