Muscat: As many as 26 players were called up by Oman's Croatian coach Branko Ivankovic for the overseas camp in Qatar beginning on May 26 until June 10.

Fahad Adil from Al Nasr club is a new young face in the squad. The selection of the Salalah-based team player came after the top show during the 2021-22 Omantel League season.

The squad also saw the return of the professional players including those who play at Iranian League including Fayez al Rushaidi and Zaher al Aghbari besides Qatar’s league players including Salah al Yahyaei, Juma al Habsi, Jameel al Yahmadi and Harib al Saadi.

Bahrain’s Al Muharraq player Khalid al Hajri and Saudi’s Al Akhdood player Essam al Subhi were also selected.

Among the 26 selected players, six are from Seeb club who claimed the HM Cup and Omantel League honours this season. Four players have been selected from Al Suwaiq, three each from Al Nasr and Dhofar.

During the 14-day preparatory camp in Doha city, no international friendlies have been announced yet. However, according to sources there is a plan for the national football team to have another aboard camp in Malta in June. That camp may feature two warm-up fixtures against Malta and Estonia.

The above preparatory plan of Red Warriors is part of the team’s actual preparations for the forthcoming Arabian Gulf Cup in Iraq, Basra city, and 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
