Muscat: The National Defence College (NDC) on Thursday hosted Dr Nayef Falah al Hajraf, GCC Secretary-General, who delivered a lecture titled “GCC—Aspirations and Challenges”. The lecture fits in the curriculum of the college’s 9th course.

Al Hajraf outlined the GCC’s march of development and cooperation among its member states at different levels since the council’s establishment way back in 1981.

The lecture touched on the GCC’s position in the backdrop of regional and international events—the bloc’s elements of strength and the challenges posed to its method of functioning as it strives to promote development in its member states. It also weighed the impact of the GCC’s actions on regional and international security and peace.

The lecture also explored the GCC’s future vision, prospects for growth, ability to tackle periodic challenges and its survival as the most important political and economic entity in the region.
