Qatar Airways sponsors Sabco Sports’ 'Koooora Wabas' project

MUSCAT: Qatar Airways were on Wednesday confirmed as the title sponsors for Sabco Sports' new 'Koooora Wabas' Project. It includes a series of football-related community activations that will take place across the major cities in Oman throughout 2022.


The project was officially launched on May 18, with the first event taking place in June


and the full calendar for the year will be released on the Koooora Wabas (KWB) social


media platforms.


Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar al Baker, said: “The Koooora Wabas Project will act as a large-scale tool that will use the influence of the beautiful game to inspire the Omani youth and unite people of all backgrounds. The Sultanate of Oman is a stunning country with a rich culture and a destination always popular with our passengers. It is an honour for us to play a role in strengthening the core values we share.”


Baker also added, “this is an initiative that we at Qatar Airways can identify with, making this partnership a natural fit. Over the year, we trust that the programme will offer the local community a variety of options such as football camps, team building clinics and educational support to engage with this great sport. We look forward to promoting football and all its benefits across Oman.”


Sayyid Khalid al Busaidy, Chairman at Sabco Sports, is pleased to be working with the team at Qatar Airways. “We have worked with Qatar Airways for a number of years now, their team are experts in the delivery of football projects, so we believe that they are the perfect partner for the Koooora Wabas project. In this World Cup year, the project has been designed to help more Omanis be involved in the sport and to use the benefits of football to improve people’s health and well-being.”


The KWB Project that takes place throughout 2022 will involve a wide range of football-related activations, including tournaments, e-sports, education and live events.


Sabco Sports are also the official non-exclusive sales agent of the Official Hospitality Packages for the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022.
