Nama Group joins 8th Global HSE Conference

MUSCAT: As part of the interest and keenness of the Group to empower the developmental factors in the HSE field in the Sultanate of Oman, and in order to achieve the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, Nama Group has participated, starting from Monday, in the 8th Global Health, Safety and Environment Conference and Exhibition, entitled: “Excellence in Health, Safety and Environment: Leadership, Sustainability and Technology”, for a period of four (4) days. The event was held at Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, under the supervision of Ministry of Energy and Minerals and by the initiative of Petroleum Development Oman, along with the participation of a number of indigenous and international establishments and those who are interested in practicing health and safety.


The pertinent conference was patronized by Eng Saeed bin Hamoud bin Saeed al Maawali, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology , in the presence of Eng Omar al -Wahaibi, CEO of Nama Group, in addition to the participation of other officials from the Sector’s companies.


The Group’s participation in this event comes as a commitment to achieving the objectives of the conference. The event aimed at creating a sustainable platform in health, safety and environment to discuss various potential challenges that this sector and the local community may face, as it proposes solutions to protect the workers and the environment. The conference also focuses on three Key pillars which are: Leadership and Commitment, Use of Technology and Sustainability Objectives that organizations exercise in competitive markets while maintaining their ability to satisfy the legal requirements and expectations of the local communities.


The aims of the conference are in line with the objectives of the social pillar of the sustainability policy of Nama Group, which ensure that all customers have access to reliable, safe and sustainable electricity and water services across the country as well as mitigating the lost time injuries that may occur to its employees and contractors.


The Group participated with three work papers, as it discussed the first paper on the operational excellence presented by Eng Bader al Mauwali from Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company. As for the second paper, it touched on the main projects of HSE, presented by Fahad bin Nasser al Kiyumi, Acting Director of Health, Safety and Environment Department at Oman Electricity Transmission Company. As regard to the third paper, it was presented by Mohammad bin Salem al Ghunaimi, Senior Manager of Asset Management at Mazoon Electricity Company, which highlighted the asset management and its compatibility with security and safety requirements.


Nama Group also hosted a session of discussion, under the participation of the higher education sector, to talk about the opportunities available for health, safety and security engineers in the public sectors. It is worth mentioning that the Group has many contributions to the HSE field, most notably through NAQLA program, which contributed to the training and qualification of Omani electrical technicians and supported them to obtain electrical connections License. Further, the program helped the participants to incept and manage SMEs as well as encouraging and promoting the local products and Omanisation.


Under the slogan of'Baiti Amin' which means 'My House is Safe', Nama Group's stall in the exhibition included a series of videos and posts on electricity safety at home.


This conference is construed as an ideal and perfect platform for the HSE professionals from all over the world to share their knowledge and cognizance through the conference theme of Leadership, Sustainability and Technology as the main components of the exhibition. It is worth mentioning that Nama Group constantly seeks to support, sponsor and organize a number of events and programs, concerned with developing the field of health, safety and environment in the Sultanate, through communication and cooperation with various development establishments locally and globally.
