In its 31st edition, Comex will be presenting the Banking and Fin-tech zone in coordination with the Central Bank of Oman for the first time. Another first event will be the start-ups' conference on AI (Artificial Intelligence), while yet another first in this year's Comex is the Awards for Excellence in Technology in 20 categories.
The organisers of Comex announced at a press conference held on Monday evening at Crowne Plaza the participation of about 150 exhibitors in the annual event. Comex is making a comeback with face-to-face event after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr Khamis bin Saif Al Jabri, Chairman of Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow Up Unit, will inaugurate the Comex.
"There will be workshops and seminars conducted for free at the Comex; MoUs are going to be signed, but important is what happens after the Comex," said Amr Abdullah Baabood, CEO, OITE.
Comex series is to be launched in specific areas, he pointed out.
Dr Salim al Ruzaiqi, Chairman of the IT Society of Oman, said the IT Society would be present at the technology show. The aim is also to organise activities and not just a stereotyped annual event.
Another new feature this year is the awards for elders who use technology. Present at the Comex will be start-ips from Oman, other Arab and non-Arab countries.
"We are proud that this edition of Comex is coinciding with the declaration of Muscat as the Arab Digital Capital of 2022, in addition the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology's five-year governmental digital transformation programme," said Sadiq Khan, COO of OITE.
He added there would be face-to-face activities from May 23 to 27 and '3D AI METAVERSE' during the same period.
The exhibition details can be accessed by downloading Comex TechClub App, which is to have activities for nine months.
Some of the planned activities are for school and college students who would be given the opportunity to speak about their ideas through the sessions - School's X & Stem and College and Universities X & Stem at Future Tech, and individuals & Societies X Stem.
