Salalah: Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality on Tuesday held a field visit to inspect the construction work at the waterfront development project in the Wilayat of Salalah implemented by Muscat National Development and Investment Company (ASAAS).

The chairman of Dhofar Municipality reviewed development at the project and watched a visual display showcasing the components of the project and the stages of implementation. He discussed the timeframe of the first phase scheduled to be complete in autumn of this year.

The first phase of the project involves the opening of the corniche and waterfront restaurants which include a number of international brand restaurants, the partial operation of the market with some sites already handed over to the operating restaurants during this month while the rest will be handed over during the upcoming period. The second phase of the waterfront development project in Al Hafa area includes full operation of the popular market by the end of this year.

In its early stages, the project aims to develop the market area on an area of more than 60,000 square metres which is envisioned to be a hub for many small and medium enterprises, attracting leading brands, in addition to a sea promenade serving the area and its visitors. — ONA
