Muscat: Oman’s football umpires will have a busy schedule in June as the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) called up many Omani umpires to officiate the final stage of qualifiers to 2023 AFC Asian Cup. Oman’s international field referee Yaqoob Abdulbaqi and his international assistant Hamed al Ghafri accompanied with other Asian umpires will officiate in Group A matches which will be held in Kuwait city during June 8 to 14.
International field referee Mahmood al Majrafi and international assistant referee Rashad al Hakamani were given the refereeing charge in the Group B qualifier matches of 2023 AFC Asian Cup which will take place in Mongolia from June 8 to 14.
The AFC decided that the refereeing team for Group C qualifier matches of the Asian Cup will feature Omani umpires including international field umpire Khalid al Shaqsi and international assistant Mohammed al Ghazali. Markaziy Stadium at Namangan city in Uzbekistan will be the venue for the matches of Group C.
Oman international field referee Qasim al Hatmi will officiate group qualifier matches of the Asian Cup in Kolkata city, India. The umpiring team will include another Oman international referee Abdullah al Shamakhi as assistant referee.
International field referee Omar al Yaqoubi and his assistants including Abdullah al Jardani and Nasser Ambo Saidi as assistant referees will team up to officiate sixth group qualifier matches of 2023 AFC Asian Cup which will take place in Kuala Lumpur city from June 8 to 14.
The last Omani umpiring team which was called up for officiating 2022 AFC U-23 Asian Cup included Oman’s iconic international football referee Ahmed al Kaaf accompanied by international referees Abu Baker al Amri and Rashid al Ghaithi. The AFC U-23 Asian Cup event will be held in Tashkent city, Uzbekistan from June 1 to 19.
In the previous year, Ahmed al Kaaf has been selected to officiate as field referee accompanied by Abu Baker al Amri and Rashid al Ghaithi as assistant in Group B matches of the joint qualification of the 2022 Fifa World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup Championship in Kuwait.
