Over 1.5m vehicles registered in Oman by March 2022

Muscat: The total number of registered vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman reached 1,560,778 by the end of March 2022, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Information and Statistics (NCSI).


Vehicles with private registration stood at 1,239,755, comprising 79.4% of the total number of registered vehicles in Oman. Meanwhile, vehicles with commercial registration reached 233,834, constituting 15%.


Taxi vehicles stood at (28,351), comprising 1.8%, while rental vehicles stood at (24,658), comprising 1.6%.


The number of government vehicles stood at 12,113. Other vehicles include Motorbikes (6,438), tutoring vehicles (5,835), vehicles with temporary registration (temporary inspection, export and import) by 7,647, farming tractors (1,295) and vehicles with diplomatic entity registrations (852).


Among colours, white vehicles in Oman stood at 669,716, followed by silver with 200,236 and gray with 130,033 vehicles.


As for the capacity of vehicles, the number of vehicles with a capacity of 1500-3000 cc stood at 837,731, 3001-4500 cc with 354,736 vehicles, over 4500 cc with 203,030 vehicles, less than 1500 cc with 117,029, while vehicles without engines reached 48,252.


As for vehicles registered per weight, the number of vehicles weighing less than 3 tonnes stood at 1,408,317, over 10 tonnes stood at 70,131, between 3-7 tonnes stood at 45,499 and between 7-10 tonnes stood at 36,831.
