Medical rehabilitation conference begins

MUSCAT: The second International Medical Rehabilitation Conference titled 'Musculoskeletal Show', being organised by the Directorate General of Specialised Medical Care (DGSMC) at the Ministry of Health (MoH) represented by the Department of Medical Rehabilitation Services, began on Saturday. It will conclude on May 20.


The conference is organised in partnership with "PhysioPod" training platform, which is based in the United Kingdom and in collaboration with the Omani Physical Therapy Association (OPTA).


The conference gathers an elite group of lecturers and experts in various healthcare fields from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman. Along with three Rehabilitation experts from Oman, the conference will include speakers from: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, UK, US, Australia, Spain, Italy and Mexico.


It will involve clinical topics in the fields of physical therapy and rehabilitation in terms of multidisciplinary healthcare approach. The conference, in its second edition, differs in the progress of the training content, as the lectures will demonstrate their published research papers and studies.


The activities of the conference will witness the registration of a large number of participants at the local and international levels.


Topics will vary between clinical examination methods for musculoskeletal problems along with the various therapeutic and rehabilitative methods used in the patient management. The activity will also highlight the return to normal functional baseline via theoretical and practical visual presentation. Also, it will include an important aspect of medical rehabilitation, which is teamwork with health practitioners from the disciplines of orthopaedics, radiology, podiatry, nutrition and other health disciplines.
