Muscat: Temperatures in the Sultanate of Oman may touch the fifties, the Oman weather office warned on Thursday.

Met Office said the mercury is likely to reach late forties and early fifties over the next two days in Oman.

In its weather forecast, met predicted that the temperature across the Sultanate of Oman is expected to soar further over today and tomorrow.

"Temperatures are likely to hit late forties and early fifties today and tomorrow over the desert areas and the coastal strip of the governorates of Dhofar, Al Wusta, South Al Sharqiyah, North and South Al Batinah and Muscat during the afternoon due to the activity of the northwest winds,” Met said.

Meanwhile, the Arabian Sea coasts are predicted to experience moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, while other governorates will witness northwesterly winds occasionally fresh over open areas.
