13,541 people register for Haj

Al Dakhiliyah topped other governorates with 2,455 Haj applications, followed by North Al Batinah with 2,054 applicants, three days after the online registration for Haj on the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs website began on Monday.


According to the ministry sources, the registration that will close on May 14 aims to allow 6,428 pilgrims to perform this year's Haj rituals through Awqaf.


There were 106 applicants from Musandam while Al Buraimi (226), South Al Batinah (1,299), Muscat (2,032), North Al Sharqiyah (1,320), South Al Sharqiyah (1,016), Al Dhahirah (647), Al Wusta (127) and Dhofar (1,174).


There have been 1,085 expatriates who want to visit the holy sites through the Awqaf, making the total number 13,541 as of Wednesday morning, according to the statistics released by the ministry.


All citizens and residents in the Sultanate of Oman who wished to perform Haj were allowed to register their interest on www. Hajj.om to be able to make use of the Haj quota 2022.


"Registration for performing holy Haj this year is open on the electronic system on Monday, May 9, and all those who want to do this year's Haj need to register their names on the Ministry website'', the spokesperson told the 'Observer'.


This year's Haj 2022 will begin on the evening of Thursday, July 7 and will end on the evening of Tuesday, July 12


The ministry has set up a hotline for technical support and inquiries through 80008008 during official working hours or submitting a report via the notification screen in the electronic system for registering pilgrims of the Sultanate of Oman via the link www.hajj.om/contact.


Any Omani citizen or expatriate aged between 18 to 65 years can apply to be qualified to perform this year's Haj online. They should have taken the basic doses of the approved vaccines for the Covid-19 with an approved certificate from the health authorities in the Sultanate of Oman and submitted a negative PCR test result for a sample taken within (72) hours before the date of travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
