The Royal Oman Police has cautioned drivers to take precautions while driving between Adam and Haima, telling that active winds accumulate sand on the road. Drivers also expressed driving difficulty due to strong winds and high temperatures.

Weather expert from the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre told the Observer that the impact was due to fresh northwesterly wind.

“The west of Musandam will receive the northwesterly wind directly but might have its effect of dust rising on Duqm, Fahud, Adam, Ibri, Al Sinaina, Mahout, Thamrait, Qarn Alam, Samayil, Buraimi, Madha and Yanqul,” the weather expert said.

The fresh northwesterly-westerly winds have also made the Musandam coast, and the Arabian Sea moderate to rough with a wave height of 2.5 metres, while the Oman Sea is moderate with a wave height of 2.0 metres.

This weather condition is expected to last for two more days.

Along the Arabian Sea coast, winds will be south to southwesterly moderate to fresh, while over the rest of the governorates, winds are expected to be northwesterly light to moderate, occasionally fresh over Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah and Al Wusta governorates.

The highest temperatures in Oman were recorded in Suhar at 44.4 degrees Celsius, Liwa at 43.9 degrees Celsius, Sur at 43.6 degrees Celsius, Saham at 43.4 degrees Celsius, and Ras Al Hadd at 43.2 degrees Celsius.

The places with lower temperatures were Saiq with 19.3 degrees Celsius, Al Sinaina with 20.5 degrees Celsius, Qairoon Hairiti with 21.0 degrees Celsius and Ibri with 22.4 degrees Celsius.

Mainly clear skies over most governorates with chances of dust rising over deserts and open areas due to fresh northwesterly winds. There are also chances of late night to early morning low-level clouds or fog patches over parts of the Arabian Sea.
