PDO-funded multi-purpose hall opens in Izki

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) officially opened on Monday on a multi-purpose hall in Izki in an event held under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Kamil bin Fahd al Said, Assistant Secretary General for the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister for Council of Ministers.


Spanning an area of 1,500 square metres, the hall is located within the Izki Cultural Complex and includes a reception, lobby and 200-square-metre attached halls and a theatre that can accommodate more than 700 people equipped with the latest audio and visual appliances.


It also features the latest educational equipment and training rooms for conducting lectures and training workshops. Overall, it will support cultural and social activities in the Wilayat of Izki and the surrounding areas by providing a safe and well-equipped environment for the local community.


Speaking about the project, PDO External Affairs and Value Creation Director Eng Abdulamir bin Abdulhussain al Ajmi said: “The likes of these community projects are an embodiment of our endeavour to make our projects diversified and touch the various needs of the citizen, social, training, health, economic and others. On the other hand, we are keen to ensure that its benefits extend to all members of the community, whether inside or outside our concession area. All of this is in line with the United Nations sustainable development goals and the priorities of the Oman Vision 2040, and today’s project is in line with the ninth goal of the United Nations goals related to strengthening the infrastructure of society." The project is part of PDO’s Social Investment Programme which aims to contribute to the sustainable development of Omani communities and to address their specific needs through a variety of different projects executed in co-operation with the government and non-government bodies.
