Muscat: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) said that the internet services of Awasr company have been affected due to a technical failure that took place on Friday, May 6, in some wilayats of the Governorate of Muscat.

The faults have been fixed and services were gradually restored to the affected areas on Saturday, the statement said.

"We regret the interruption of the internet service due to an outage beyond our control, rest assured that our teams are working on solving the issue shortly," Awasr said in a statement.

The Observer earlier received several messages on its social media platforms with subscribers of Awsr saying that their services have been facing issues since Friday night.

Earlier, TRA said that Omantel mobile subscribers were affected in some wilayats of South al Batinah and Al Dakhiliyah on May 5, 2022, as some of the fiber-optic cables were cut in these areas.

TRA said that it followed up with the company's stakeholders about the measures taken to fix this malfunction and find alternative solutions.

The authority said that services were gradually resumed in the evening of the same day.
