Muscat: The State Audit Institution (SAI) continues broadcasting its Nazaha (integrity) programme broadcast on public and private TV and radio channels during the holy month of Ramadhan.

The programme, now in its sixth edition, aims to enhance communal and individual knowledge about the Sharia rulings related to ways of dealing with the public fund and the duties towards the public job.

The episodes of the programme dealt with several key topics pertaining to the protection of public fund, the importance of institutional and social partnership in uplifting the efficiency of public funds. It revolves around the sanctity of the public fund, the dangers of bribery and embezzlement, the efficiency of using financial resources. Some episodes revolved around the duties and liabilities of the public office and the importance of cooperation in enhancing institutional performance, boosting job loyalty and institutional affiliation, the positive work environment, motivation to career competence. This is in addition to other topics related to the values of integrity, personal ethics, self-monitoring and job ethics.

A group of people has been polled to identify their opinions on episodes of Nazaha in its sixth season.

Dr Fayza bint Ahmed al Raei, consultant dermatologist, said: ‘The programme discusses important issues related to public money, and presents real examples of interest to all a wide segment of the society. It provides the legal opinion to prevent or limit abuses. This is a meaningful and sound work that society needs and I propose that the programme include interviews with the general public to measure their opinions and suggestions on the topics raised.”

Ahmed bin Said Kashoob, producer and presenter of the Economic Forum programme said that the value of self-monitoring does not begin at the institution but rather is an implant that begins at home which is why Nazaha programme comes to enhance the concept of integrity, transparency and accountability in light of the conflicting global changes and the digital revolution which requires all of us to devote the concept of self-monitoring, to strengthen and activate it and to instill fear of God first and then the penalties resulting from those heinous acts and their impact on the individual, family and society. He added that the Nazaha programme includes a set of episodes that address all segments of society in an easy way that touches the life reality of the community, and the choice of broadcast timing and programme guest is very appropriate.

Majid bin Said al Hadabi, Coordination and Follow-up Supervisor at the Ministry of Education, points out that the most important feature of Nazaha programme is its focus on strengthening self-monitoring as it is considered one of the finest types of supervision to prevent all forms of corruption or infringement of public funds and dereliction of duty. He stressed the importance of focusing on reviving self-monitoring and building a balanced personality and linking it to religious faith.

Khalfan bin Hamad al Zaidi, author and journalist said that raising awareness with regard to preserving public money, honesty at work, and avoiding suspicions, are essential to protect the employee from falling into accountability, adding that the awareness and educational programme Nazaha contributed significantly to achieving these goals. The programme was able to provide answers to many questions related to public money and job duties and rights.

Zainab bint Zahir al Nassriyah, local news editor at Oman Daily Observer, said that Nazaha programme is one of the programmes that touches on real issues pertaining to important cognitive aspects in the employee’s life in particular and the general public. Hence, the programme managed to reach a large segment of people and its video clips are widely circulated on social media.

For further development and modernization, Al Nassriyah suggests displaying some abuse cases in the programme and highlighting the success of the programme in addressing all issues related to the public job, such as good time-management, effective use of work tools and other aspects that the employee must take into account, she called on everyone to benefit from the programme, which is available on SAI platforms.
