MUSCAT: Zakat al Fitr is one of the most prominent obligations of Muslims at the end of Ramadhan. It is a charity that Muslims give during the holy month. It has manifestations of social solidarity in Islamic law.

Zakat is the second pillar in terms of correctness that creates interdependence and financial cooperation in society. It is obligatory for all Muslims, young or old, to do charity in the form of cash or corn, values of which vary from country to country.

Its value in the Sultanate of Oman ranges from RO 1 to RO 1.5, depending on the party that a Muslim wishes to pay zakat. Generally, zakat is given by the head of the family on behalf of all the individuals he supports.

With the advent of the blessed month, there are platforms to collect donations. These platforms make payment easier for citizens and residents electronically. These associations distribute the money to the deserving poor and needy. The scholars permitted the possibility of paying zakat in cash through those platforms.

Oman has launched a portal for donations to charitable societies so that all residents and citizens can make online donations without visiting the charitable offices.

The electronic zakat, launched by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, is an integrated system that allows citizens to benefit from a range of services related to zakat and alms and allows the feature to follow up on the request and the actions taken in it.

It also provides several services, including the possibility of calculating zakat from the smart calculator and the payment of public or current alms. Or pay various types of penances and Zakat al Fitr from Ramadhan and enable them to deliver zakat.

Zakat has good economic effects that accrue to the individual, society, the state and Muslims. As one of its most important economic effects, it contributes to improving the living, health and educational standards of the poor. It helps alleviate the financial burden of the state by agreeing to provide subsidies to the needy, such as orphans, the elderly and others.

It is a means of achieving economic justice; it helps to invest; because whoever owns money must invest it, and the state helps to encourage it by various means.

Investment benefits the country's economy and raises the value of its budget, and finally, provides security to the state. Zakat helps fight poverty.

In zakat, social and economic goals are achieved. The wisdom in it is to build a good, integrated and equitable society as much as possible.
