RO 150m Batinah-Dhahirah water transmission project comes online

Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company (OWWSC) announced the operationalisation of the water transmission line that links the Sohar Water Desalination Plant and Al Dhahirah Governorate


Ibrahim bin Hamed al Hasani, Project Senior Manager, stated that the total cost of this project is RO 150 million.


“The project cost included the interconnection of the water transmission line to the Sohar Desalination plant with a total length of 230 kilometres.


The project also includes the construction of 15 reservoirs of a total storage capacity of 451,000 cubic metres located in the Wilayats of Suhar, Ibri and Dhank. In addition, the project consists of four pumping stations with a maximum capacity that can reach 144,000 cubic metres per day.”


Also as part of the project, a parallel water line has been constructed alongside the pipeline running from Suhar to Al Buraimi Governorate, he said. The new route will be used to meet the future water needs of Al Buraimi Governorate.
