

Muscat: The authorities last week discussed the topic of improving the transport and logistics connectivity in the North Batinah Governorate, especially in Suhar.
Eng. Naif bin Ali al Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) visited the Suhar Airport, as part of the workshop on logistical connectivity and integration in the Governorate of North Al Batinah, organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.
The CAA said that it has developed a plan vision that includes encouraging national airlines to operate more flights from Suhar Airport, by enhancing the airport’s capacity and infrastructure, better facilities, including accommodation for travelers, and allowing night operations.
The workshop also discussed opportunities to integrate all airports in the Sultanate of Oman as well as encourage coordination between airports, land transport, and ports.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology underlined the presence of the road networks that link the governorate's ports, special economic zones, and land borders. The special highlight has been the opening of the road link with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
