Oman set for West Asian beach soccer in Saudi Arabia

Muscat: Oman beach soccer team will return to action after an absence of eight months since their last appearance at the 2021 Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup Russia in August. The team is undergoing an internal camp as apart of the preparations to take part in the West Asian Federation Championship which will be held in Saudi Arabia from May 15 to 21.


During the domestic camp, the Oman team will take on Bahrain team in a friendly game by end of April as the latter is underway in an external camp in Muscat.


The warm-up camp of the national beach soccer team began on Sunday under watchful eyes of national experienced coach Talib Hilal who opted 16 top players including the potential faces from the last beach soccer league. The underway 15-day camp features three friendly games against Bahrain on next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.


The national beach soccer team will have a break during Eid Al Fitr holidays and will have another short internal camp ahead of travelling later to Saudi Arabia. In the following part of the internal camp, the Oman team will have more preparatory games against Kuwait and Egypt.



Head coach Talib Hilal selected 16 players in the squad including many experienced players and some new youth faces.


The Oman Football Association concluded last March the first edition of the 2021-22 beach soccer league in Muscat. Al Musannah club were crowned champions of the league as they defeated Saham 3-2 in the final match. The squad featured participation of three players from Al Musannah and the same from Saham.


Oman squad: Mundher al Oraimi, Mashal al Oraimi, Salim al Oraimi, Khalid al Mukhaini, Amjad al Hamdani, Nouh al Zadjali, Ahmed al Owaisi, Younis al Owaisi, Sami al Balushi, Abdullah al Buraiki, Yahya al Buraiki, AbdulRahman al Fazari, Sameer Jameel, Mohammed al Mawali, Nouh al Battashi and Abdullah al Souti.
