Inbound visitors surge by 400% in February

Muscat: Around 600,000 people left the country until the end of February 2022 compared to 230,000 incoming visitors, according to National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).


The number of inbound visitors during the month of February 2022 increased by 432.4% to 122,000, compared to 23,000 visitors during the same month last year.


The report indicated that visitors from the Gulf topped the list with 45,148 visitors (36.9 percent), during the month of February followed by Indian nationals (12.7 percent), the French (4.2 percent), and the British (4 percent).


The report mentioned that 305,000 people left the Sultanate of Oman during the month of February, of which Omanis accounted for 61.7 percent of the total outbound visitors.


The increase in the number of visitors departing from the Sultanate of Oman in February was about 198,000 compared to the same period in 2021, an increase in the number of outbound 149,000 Omanis travelers in February 2022, compared to the same period in 2021.


The revenues of 3 to 5 stars hotels were RO16 million during the month of February 2022, compared to RO7 million during the same month in 2021, an increase of 135.9 percent.


The number of guests in these hotels was 162,000 compared to 90,000 guests during the same period in 2021, an increase of 79.1 percent.


The occupancy rate in these hotels was 52.5 percent, compared to 39.1 percent in the same month of 2021, an increase of 34.4 percent.
