A week-long programme to identify the best child who recites the Holy Quran following all the rules governing the recital, will be conducted by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.

The programme named 'Risalah Mohammed', is aimed at children up to 10 years of age from all 11 governorates and will see big prizes to be taken home at the end of each session.

"The Holy Quran memorisation competition is to identify the best 'Qari' (one who recites the holy book with all its rules) from our children in different governorates," said Dr Ismail al Awfi, Scientific Adviser at the Office of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.

Speaking to the Observer on the sidelines of the press event announcing the details of the contest, Dr Al Awfi added that winners will receive prizes including mobile phones, laptops, computers, and finally 10 cars will be awaiting the best child Qari from each governorate.

The contest will be held on Ramadhan 20 to 28 in all governorates, added Al Awfi, who is also the Chairman of the Competition Organising Committee.

Anyone wishing to register in the contest can do so by logging on to the ministry’s website.
