All 26 million residents of Shanghai had received a Covid-19 test as of Monday, as China's most populous city grapples with a severe outbreak. China is experiencing its worst wave of cases since the pandemic began, prompting a massive public health response.
Shanghai, a major port city, is the focus of much attention, but the north-eastern province of Jilin has also been severely affected and new cases have been logged across the country.
Health authorities reported more than 13,000 new infections nationwide on Monday, although most were asymptomatic. State media reports that more than 100,000 people were infected in March. - dpa
