The first day of school, the first step to the world of education because students in classroom are away from their parents for the first time.

Some of them are in awe, others are yelling out with one just chanting ‘I want to go home.’

Then there are the sweet ones ready to dance and sing, while few of them are onlookers and have few bursts of tears watching the crying ones. One little one came and pointed to the watch on the teacher’s wrist and asked, ‘What time would the bus come?’

It might be back to school for other students, but for these little ones it is their first experience.

Within the room one can see the future world citizens and their personalities. The girl who snatches the football from a boy and refuses to give it back. The one who tries to bring all other children to play is eager to help and is ready to share her joy.

“It would only take three days and then they will be normal,” said the teacher.

For now though, on their first day, children are taking in the sights and sounds outside their home on their own.

Their journey will take them through higher education and then on to careers. We can only wish them the best. The world is changing and by the time they become adults we would know more about practicality of sustainability, the climatic conditions and how far renewable energy would be part of the daily lifestyle.

Would communication skills go through a make over too?

Obviously, there is every chance because we have been seeing this happen through out history. Political correctness is something we have seen evolving over the years as we become sensitive to other’s feelings and become empathetic. It is so because it has been proven to us that intelligence quotient (IQ) is not the only thing that would guarantee you a job, it is also emotional intelligence that is needed. In today’s works EQ is equally important. But that is not all social intelligence is extremely significant in addition to spirituality quotient, adaptability quotient and creativity quotient.

There is yet another intelligence that is being considered extremely important and is Adversity Quotient (AQ) - how good is a person in handling crisis. Are they ready to give up or would they keep moving forward.

Are individuals born with these qualities or do they need to develop it. Sooner the better and where else but the school to develop these aspects of intelligence with teachers and students?
