Oman, Lanka discuss ways to boost trade cooperation

MUSCAT: Dr Saleh bin Said Masan, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, received on Sunday Dr Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Trade of Sri Lanka.


The two sides explored aspects of the joint cooperation, economic diversification sectors and the investment and trade environment in both countries, as well as augmenting trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and Sri Lanka.


The two sides also discussed aspects of cooperation in the economy and industry sectors, logistics, ports and investment opportunities in both countries. They also discussed exchanging expertise between the two sides, as well as seeking to benefit from the opportunities and potentials available in the two countries.


The two sides also reviewed the products that can be exported and imported.


The meeting also explored the incentives provided by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion to investors, the economic diversification sectors targeted by Oman Vision 2040 and the available investment opportunities.


TOURISM COOPERATION


Salim bin Mohammed bin Said al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, also received in his office Sri Lankan minister and his delegation, currently visiting the country.


The two sides discussed the aspects of cooperation in the tourism fields and take advantage of the available opportunities by organising workshops and tourism promotion exhibitions.
