MUSCAT: The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) said Caracalla Dance Theatre will perform 'Finiqia: The legend lives on' at the ROHM House of Musical Arts on Thursday and Friday. The first part is set in ancient world, where neighbouring regions sit on the brink of warfare. Searching to solidify his kingdom, Phoenician King Ahiram’s only choice is to extend his hand towards the Dynasty of Egypt and its celebrated Pharoah Ramses II and as an allegiance, offers his daughter Cedrus in marriage to Amun-her-khepeshef the son of Ramses II.

Cedrus must choose between honour and love as her heart belongs to another man. From ancient Finiqia, we travel through the sands of time, witnessed only by the once-majestic temples of Ahiram, now laying in ruins.

Locals gather in a typical village where feuding families struggle to keep the peace. Once again, a marriage is brokered to appease the stormy relations. The legend may influence the outcome. The Caracalla Dance Theatre is celebrating its 54th anniversary since its foundation in Lebanon in 1968.

One of the most prominent dance theatres in the middle east, it has established itself as a cultural institution, renowned for presenting vibrant artistic productions portraying the richness of Arabian cultural heritage. Driven by the vision of the Caracalla family, its founder and artistic director Abdel Halim Caracalla, director Ivan Caracalla and choreographer Alissar Caracalla, the Caracalla Dance Theatre is a beacon of Dance Theatre from the Arab world defined by tradition, excellence and innovation. — ONA
