Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) Council on Sunday approved the establishment of a new programme named “Certificate of Arabic Language and Literature for Non-Native Speakers” at the Department of Arabic Language and Literature in the College of Arts and Social Sciences. This step aims to sharpen the communication skills of the learners in the field of Arabic language and literature. It also seeks to provide them with basic linguistic and literary knowledge, and introduce them to the Arab and Omani culture, so that the graduates can join various jobs that require competence in Arabic, such as working in the press and media in their countries, ministries of foreign affairs, the diplomatic and tourism fields. -- ONA
