MUSCAT: Akshaykumar Patel was the hero of Oman Stallions’ exciting 3-wicket win over Yalla Shabab in a 50-over Premier Division League clash at Oman Cricket Turf 1 in Amerat on Friday.
Stallions bowled exceptionally well to dismiss Yalla Shabab for 184 in 47.3 overs, Akshay and Hemalkumar Tandel taking three wickets each and Mehran Khan picking up two. Wasim Ali top-scored with a fine 72.
Akshay led the chase with a solid 45 with other notable contributions from Prasad Sankata (40) and Pratik Athavale (30). Jitenkumar Ramanandi and Sanuth Ebrahim bagged two wickets each.
Ganesh bowls Muscat to victory
In another Premier Division game on Saturday, Ganesh Chandrashekhar picked up 4 for 34 to help Muscat CT to a 6-wicket victory against Ibn Abdul Samad Engineering & Construction Co (IAS) at OC Turf 1.
IAS were bundled out for a lowly 137 in the 50th over, Haythim Bahar top-scoring with 71. Samay Shrivastava and Chonira Aiyappa took two wickets each.
Muscat raced to the target in only the 24th over, scoring 143 for 4 thanks to Hashir Dafedar’s unbeaten 41 and Chonira’s 15-ball 30 not out.
Nishad stars in Zawawi win
Top class all-round show by Nishad KS lifted Zawawi Powertech to a big 112-run win over Ernst and Young (E&Y) in a 50-over A Division League encounter at OC Turf 2 on Friday.
Opening the batting, Nishad top-scored with a solid 72 as Zawawi posted a robust 296 all out on the board in 47 overs with other notable scores coming from Nalaka Pathum (53) and Mohan Kumar (46). Masud Parvez claimed 3 for 68.
E&Y could not respond with equal force, folding up for 184 in the 40th over due to excellent bowling by Nishad (3 for 33) and Vijeesh Chennangaden (3 for 46). Shrey Wilson was the main scorer with 49.
