Oman Paralympic stars impress at West Asian tourney in Bahrain

Oman Para Athletics team concluded their participation at the 2022 West Asian Championship in Bahrain on a successful note. A total of 20 medals including 12 gold, seven silver and one bronze were bagged by the Sultanate of Oman’s paralympic stars who managed to show top performance during the Asian event.


Tokyo 2020 paralympic medalist, Mohammed al Mashaikhi, bagged gold medal in the throw discs (F32) category. Qusai al Rawahi clinched gold medal in the long jump (T12) category.


Mohammed al Qasmi managed to earn gold medal in the throw discs competitions. Hatem bin Jamal al Zadjali snatched silver medal in the 200 metre and another silver medal at the long jump in his category.


Saif al Muqbali bagged the gold medal in the 200 metre distance sprint category (T47), while Taha al Harrasi claimed two gold in the 200 metres category (T36) and long jump competitions.


Earlier, Paralympic stars came up with a top show in Bahrain as the team members added four medals including two gold, silver and bronze.


Saif al Muqaibli achieved gold medal in the 100 metres category (T47) while Hatem al Zadjali got silver medal in the 100 metres category (T36).


Qusai al Rawahi won 100 T12 gold medal. Taha al Harrasi claimed the gold in the 100 metres category (T36) and Mohammed al Mashaikhi clinched gold in shot put (F32).


Mohammed al Qasimi bagged the silver medal in the same category. Talib al Balushi snatched the shot put gold medal and continued his achievement by achieving the silver medal by throwing the javelin. Saif al Muqaibli achieved the gold medal in 400 metres while Hatem al Zadjali won the bronze in the event.


Oman’s top paralympic star, Mohammed al Mashaikhi, thanked the coaching staff efforts during the last period. “A special thanks to my technical team who were behind our readiness for this Asian tourney. A dedicated thanks also to my coach Sonia, Coach Aouf, coach Asad and Dr Hani for their continuous technical support. After this triumph, we are looking froward to new victories in the forthcoming events,” he ended.
