Ironman 70.3 begins, some roads closed

Muscat: In the presence of Maitha bint Saif Al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT), the Ironman 70.3 World Championship Muscat kicked off on Friday. The tournament included swimming, cycling, and running competitions. A total of 561 participants from 50 countries are taking part in the competition.


Royal Oman Police said that some roads were closed to vehicles during the course of the competition, which will begin at Waterfront Mall in Shatti Al Qurum.

Starting from the Waterfront Mall, riders will pass through Al-Massa Mall, Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Health, Sultan Qaboos Street, Darsait Heights, Muttrah Waterfront, Al Bustan Palace, Darsait Bridge, Old Ministry of Sports Affairs building, Wadi Adei bridge, Amerat Police Station and back to Wadi Adei, Qurim Signal, Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM), Al-Massa Mall and back to Waterfront Mall.

Running competition will start from Waterfront Mall, Al-Massa Mall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shatti al Qurum, Shati Roundabout opposite the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Starbucks road towards Crowne Plaza Muscat, and return by the same road.
