Muscat - The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) has launched a new project to produce an alternative protein from dates in cooperation with international partners, including the US-based Myco Technology
The first phase of the project will include the preparation of economic feasibility studies.
On the sidelines of the 'Future of Food' event, the agency, in cooperation with Myco, announced the establishment of a bio-food technology company with the aim of studying the feasibility of building a factory in the Sultanate of Oman.
Through this partnership, the agency seeks to enhance food security, contribute to achieving self-sufficiency, and attract global expertise for the benefit of local projects, which will help create more direct and indirect job opportunities and businesses for small and medium enterprises.
