A gamut of activities packed with fun and frolic will be the attraction of the first Beach Carnival to be held at the Seeb Beach from March 22 to 31 after relaxed Covid1-9 restrictions.
The 10-day festival, with a large number of sports and other games besides a wide range of infotainment activities that aim to entertain the complete family, is organised by an Omani firm Al Rahi Investment Company under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and will follow strict adherence to the pandemic regulations.
"An event like a beach carnival is one of the most sought after public events because people have been following the Covid restrictions for the past nearly two years. I'm sure people would be visiting the event venue under strict pandemic protocols," said Dr Abdullah Ambousaidi, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Education.
He hoped that all public and private schools under the ministry were requested to send in their children with their parents and experience a festival arranged in Oman's natural settings.
"We encourage all our staff and students to take part in the activities within the Covid-19 restrictions. Oman has more than 700,000 students in government schools, while all private schools combined have 10,00,000 students. All students and staff members have been urged to take part in the various activities meant for different age groups," he added.
To be open from 3pm to 10pm every day, the festival of families will have beach volleyball, handball, basketball, skating and hockey on one side while vendors from different parts of the Sultanate of Oman will be stationed on the other side offering the visitors a complete range of product range from gastronomic delights to perfumes and cosmetics.
"With all these attractions aiming to cater to every member of a family, the beach carnival would turn out to be a memorable one replicating the Muscat Festival for every citizen and expatriate in the country," said Rashid al Jalandani, CEO of Al Rahi Company; Mohammed al Jalandani and Amna Nasser, partners; and Islam Ahmed, legal advisor to the company, promoters of the largest beach event in the country.
"We have got approvals from the Ministry of Education, Muscat Municipality, as well as from the Supreme Committee that regulates the pandemic protocols. We are aiming to give the best for the visitors with this first of its kind complete family entertainment in 2022," the promoters added.
Entry to the venue for children up to 12 will be free, while visitors from 12- 16 years of age will be charged with 500 baiza. For people above the age of 16, there will be a RO 1 ticket to enter the festival area.
The first Beach Carnival is supported by various Omani SMEs and startups like Flowart, Happy Moon Land, Arab Sweets, Matar Saeedi Lawyers.
