

MUSCAT: The judging panel of the Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design continues evaluating entries vying for the first edition of award following the end of the submission period on February 5.
A total of 356 completed entries were submitted so far, while other projects that did not meet the award’s conditions were rejected. Besides, entrants who did not meet the conditions for participation and those who failed to submit the initial delivery requirements such as illustrations, site plan, or detailed description of the project, were also denied.
The judging panel is currently sorting out and assessing the submitted entries and evaluating them technically in accordance with the award’s objectives to come up with the best ten entries that qualify for the initial review stage scheduled to begin on February 27.
Ten candidates out of 356 projects submitted for the award will be invited to present details of their projects before the jury to be discussed elaborately from the technical and engineering perspectives.
The entries submitted for the first edition of the Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design varied from architectural landmarks, some of which are inspired by the Omani culture, to tourist attractions and commercial establishments inspired by Omani history, in addition to parks and open commercial markets equipped with various facilities. — ONA
