His Majesty issues two Royal Decrees

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Wednesday issued two Royal decrees reading as follows:


Royal Decree No 6/2022 on the promulgation of Personal Data Protection Law.


Article (1) stipulates that the Personal Data Protection Law attached to this decree shall be enforced.


Article (2) instructs the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology to issue the Executive Regulation of the attached law, as well as the decisions necessary for the implementation of its provisions.


Till such time, the existing regulations and decisions shall continue to be applied without prejudice to the provisions of this law.


Article (3) cancels the 7th chapter of the Electronic Transactions Law issued under Royal Decree No 69/2008, as well as all that contradicts the law attached here or contravenes its provisions.


Article (4) says that this Royal Decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced after one year from its date of publishing.


Royal Decree No 7/2022 ratifies the agreement signed in Muscat on January 24, 2022 by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of Colombia on mutual waiver of visas for holders of Diplomatic, Special, Service and Official passports.


Article (1) states that the aforementioned agreement shall be ratified in accordance with the version attached to this decree.


Article (2) says that this decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced on its date of issue.
