MUSCAT, FEB 8

The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) is exploring options to expand the capacity of Raysut Industrial City, as well as move ahead with the establishment of the proposed Thamrait Industrial City – both located in Dhofar Governorate – to cater to demand growth.

According to Eng Ali al Maashani, Acting Director General of Raysut Industrial City, as many as 207 industrial projects are currently operating within the cluster with a further 40 projects signed up for development over the past two years.

“By the end of 2021, the total investment volume in Raysut Industrial City amounted to more than RO 479 million and the national manpower touched 1,197. Moreover, Madayn is currently aiming at obtaining new expansions in Raysut Industrial City to keep pace with the growing demand, in addition to the development of the newly announced Thamrait Industrial City,” he said.

On Tuesday, Raysut Industrial City has signed an investment pact with Sahari Qatbeet Trading and Transport Company to set up a factory for industrial salt production as part of an Omani-Emirati partnership.

The application for investment, selection and examination of requested plot, signing of the lease contract and completion of payments, was processed in two hours. Investment in the project, which will be developed on 12,248 sq metres of land, is about RO 1 million.

Al Maashani explained that investors can submit investment applications and complete the procedures electronically through Masar Service Centre.

“In fact, the promptness of electronic investment procedures happens with the support of Masar Service Centre and the other digital services employed by Madayn, which jointly play a significant role in facilitating these procedures for investors in the industrial cities,” he added.
