Al Nasr blank Dhofar

Seeb were held goalless by Al Musannah as they missed chance to go top of Omantel League after Salalah giants Dhofar suffered a 2-0 loss against Al Nasr in the Southern Oman’s derby.


Dhofar managed to maintain lead at the top of the table with 26 points despite the defeat from the neighbours. Seeb are one point behind the leaders after the 12th round.


Said al Ruzaiqi and Abdulmalik al Hasanwai netted the important goals for Al Nasr to take the club’s tally to 22 points in the third place.


At Al Saada Sports Complex, Nizwa tasted their first win in the league in the 12th round as they edged hosts Al Ittihad 1-0. The only goal in the match was scored by Tidan with 10 minutes remaining in the game. The Al Dhakhiliyah based team is positioned in the relegation zone in the 13th place with seven points and Al Ittihad have same points in the 12th position.


AL SUWAIQ POST FOURTH WIN


Al Suwaiq registered their fourth win in the league after Oman’s international player Ahmed al Khamisi netted the winner in the dying minutes of the game to register a 2-1 win over Saham. Welmerson put Al Suwaiq ahead in the first half while Faisal al Buraiki equlaised at the end of the first half to make it 1-1. In the final minutes, Al Khamisi’s strike delivered three vital points to the northern Batinah team to take the ninth place with 15 points while Saham are struggling at the bottom with six points only.


In another clash, Al Rustaq and Al Nahda settled for a 1-1 draw at the former's home in Al Rustaq Sports Complex. Both goals of the fixture was scored in the last minutes as Al Rustaq's Valdini Alvesh netted first while Mohammed Khaseeb scored the equaliser. The draw kept one point gap between both clubs as Al Nahda are in third place with 20 points and Al Rustaq are sixth with 19 points.


At Nizwa Sports Complex, Bahla and Muscat settled for a 1-1 draw. Both teams have 11 points and are placed in 10th and 11th spots respectively.


The first goal came in the last phase of the first half by Jawed al Balushi who put the Muscat team in lead. The hosts managed to return into the game as Husni al Hinai struck parity with six minutes to go.
